Terms of service

Short version: Pc Controller is a free SKITZ utility. You may use it to control computers and TVs you are allowed to operate. There is no warranty. Do not use it to access anyone else’s devices without permission.

Agreement

These terms govern the Pc Controller Android application, the optional SKITZ PC Agent, and the product pages at https://skitz-games.pages.dev/pc/ (together, the “Software”). By installing or using the Software you agree to these terms and the Privacy policy. If you do not agree, uninstall and stop using it.

License

SKITZ grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, free of charge, for lawful remote control of computers and televisions you are authorised to operate.

You may not sell the SKITZ branding as your own product, remove notices, or represent that SKITZ operates a cloud control service on your behalf. Source in the public SKITZ-GAMES repository remains under that repository’s license; these terms cover use of the packaged app and helper.

What the Software does — and does not

• It can present your phone as a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The host OS will receive real keystrokes and pointer events.
• It can send TV remote commands on your LAN using vendor protocols (Roku, Samsung, LG, Bravia, Android/Google TV, and similar).
• With SKITZ PC Agent on the same Wi‑Fi, it can move the pointer, type, launch allow-listed apps, and issue power actions (sleep, lock, restart, shut down) on that PC.
• It is not an antivirus, parental-control, MDM, or “find my device” product. It does not encrypt your home Wi‑Fi. It does not give SKITZ a backdoor into your PC.

Acceptable use

You must only control devices you own or have explicit permission to control. You must not use the Software to:

• Access, type into, power off, or watch someone else’s computer or TV without authorisation.
• Bypass locks, passwords, or workplace security, or deploy the helper as covert remote-access malware.
• Attack, scan, or disrupt networks, or send unlawful content through the keyboard channel.
• Interfere with emergency services, medical, aviation, or industrial control systems.

Shortcuts that open Netflix or other apps follow the host OS: they launch the installed application when present, otherwise a website. You are responsible for those apps’ own terms and for any purchases made on the host.

Your responsibilities

• Keep the phone locked when you are not using it; a paired remote is a live keyboard.
• Use a trusted network. Guest Wi‑Fi and public hotspots are a poor place for TV APIs and the agent.
• Force-stop other HID apps (including Skitz Controller / click-clack) if the pointer never appears — two gadgets cannot own the same slot.
• Confirm Android’s install prompt yourself if you apply an APK update. SKITZ cannot silently install software.
• Uninstall the helper from its window or tray if you no longer want LAN control.

Updates

The app and helper may check a public update list. Builds are unsigned unless a signing certificate is documented for that release; Windows SmartScreen may warn. You choose whether to install. We may change, suspend, or stop distributing builds. Update checks can be disabled in Settings.

Third-party services and hardware

Televisions, Windows, Linux, Bluetooth stacks, Cloudflare Pages, GitHub, WhatsApp, and apps you launch are not SKITZ products. Their availability, pairing popups, and bugs are outside our control. Some TVs advertise Wi‑Fi control that does nothing until you pair as a Bluetooth keyboard — that is a vendor limitation, not a SKITZ guarantee.

No warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that control will be timely, that a TV will wake, that a restart command will finish cleanly, or that HID will work on every host.

Power actions can lose unsaved work. Skip/seek keys send ordinary media or arrow keys; playback apps decide what that means.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKITZ AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR DEVICE DAMAGE, ARISING FROM THE SOFTWARE — INCLUDING A SHUTDOWN OR RESTART SENT FROM THE PHONE, A MIS-TYPED COMMAND, OR A FAILED TV PAIRING.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Software will not exceed the amount you paid SKITZ for it (currently zero) or the minimum your consumer law does not allow us to exclude.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify SKITZ against claims arising from your misuse of the Software, including unauthorised control of third-party devices or networks.

Termination

These terms apply until you uninstall. We may stop offering downloads. Provisions that should survive (license restrictions, disclaimer, liability, indemnity) survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless your mandatory consumer law says otherwise. Courts in South Africa have non-exclusive jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms when the product changes. Continued use after the Updated date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, except where local law requires a different process. See https://skitz-games.pages.dev/pc/terms/
